Research Into Music Director
Research Into Music Director For Foundations:
The song “Foundations" is a song co-written by British
singer-songwriter Kate Nash for her debut album Made of Bricks which
was released in 2007. This song was both written and sung by the artist due to her
wide range of skills and knowledge within the music industry. The album
was released in
June 2007 and was apart of her fist single since signing
with Friction Records.
Summary of the artist-
Kate Nash was born on 6 July 1987 in Harrow, London to an
English father, Steve Nash, and an Irish mother, Marie. In 2008, following intensive touring, Nash had what she described as a "proper
breakdown", due to going back to her mild obsessive-compulsive disorder which she had
experienced as a child. On 2 September 2009, Kate Nash set up her own MySpace and
Facebook face in which to act as a charity to help raise money for a young
girl called Tilly. The young girl lost her hands due to meningococcal disease.
Kate Nash used the auction site eBay to help donate and raise money for the
girl in order for her to be able to afford a pair of prosthetic hands.

Videos I Admire (2)
Ellie Goulding-Burn
This another video I have chosen when focusing on a music video that I admire. I have chosen this song of Ellie Goulding as I think the way the setting has been used is effective as it doesn't constantly change however always maintains the interest of the audience due to a variety of different things happening on set. Furthermore I beleive the lighting and the shadowing used to focus on certain objects has been managed and carried out successfully. This music video has enabled me to gain a range of ideas when constructing planning ideas. However I am aware that due to the success of the artist the director doesn't have to constantly rely on the change of setting. Changing the scenery for my music video is vitally important when ensuring the interest of the audience is maintained and therefore have realised that I am not fortunate enough to just rely on the artist. After watching this music video over I have decided that I am going to have to take alot of thought into the relevant props that would be appropriate with the genre of music. Not only will this help me to construct ideas however it will also help pick up a few grades with the examiner as they will particularly notice the input into small details.

Music Videos That I Inspire (1)
Rudimental's song 'Waiting All Night' inspires me due to the narrative being so intense and realistic. I believe by having a narrative so personal and realistic motivates the song and allows the audience to feel as if they know the actors acting out the narrative. Similarly by a story line uplifts the viewers and allows them to appreciate everything in life alot more as they can begin to see how many people suffer from worse things than they do. This music video makes everyone feel lucky and grateful for the life that they have been given and begin to see the more important things to life. Furthermore I believe that this music video is very successful considering that it doesn't have a performance within the narrative, and similarly is successful as it maintains the audiences interest throughout.
What Is a Digipak?
I had to do this task on my friends prezi due to technical difficulties with my own account.

Research Into Other Adverts
Above highlights a current pop artist within today's music industry. The illustration shown demonstrates how music artists are advertised and portrayed to the public eye. This is beneficial for the artist as they are able to expand and develop their brand image positively as they can contain positive reviews about themselves and feedback from other individuals and groups about their opinion. Not only are magazine and poster advertisements beneficial for the artist they can also contain both visual aspects aswell as written information about the artist. Therefore this can grab a wide range of individuals and groups as they can be satisfied from the visual images contained aswell as being informed with textual references and reviews about the band/artist.
I found that doing further research into current music advertisements was helpful when gathering useful ideas for the production of my magazine advert. I managed to view a range of ones which I believe were most successful to ones that I presumed didn't catch the interest of the intended target market. From my research I have found that the most successful magazine adverts like the one illustrated above stick to the theme of simplicity as the producers focuses on minimal text allowing the main bleed to take up the majority of the page, as this is a key and vital necessity when attracting the audiences attention. Similarly I believe that this advert was successful due to the link between the image effects and the name of the song, as the audience are introduced to the name being 'lights' aswell as a light shining from the background giving the advert a professional style.
